UK a Brief History
Katie Mayne (founder of TinyTalk UK) first started signing
with her son at the age of 7months in Dec 2001; Katie had come from
a teaching and teaching of the deaf background.
Spurred on by his grasp of basic signs such as “milk”
and “food” Katie set up a TinyTalk class in Guildford
in April 2002. Even more success followed, these classes were a
huge hit and it was not long before local and national media heard
about this wonderful form of early communication. This media attention
led to Katie being interviewed by ITV’s This Morning in February
2003 the flood gates were then opened for many more National media
articles about Baby Signing.
In May 2003 Katie delivered the first training day for TinyTalk
Teachers, this was when I came on board and TinyTalk Loughton was
born!! Much to the delight of local Mums and their babies!!
