I have seen this for a while, so trying it out. A digital design for a third of a mould, which becomes the mould for plaster, which is the mould for slipcasting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I had a nice afternoon thinking about nothing but mould-making, some sketching with my favourite fountain pen, and remembering how to do things in Blender. I really want to make a clever 3-part mould, each cast from a 3D-printed mould. I realised, however, that I don’t have an idea of what to make. The process is quite long before I get a finished cup in my hands, and the last time I tried, I wasted a load of silicone and didn’t like the result, so I hit pause on the 3-part mould, and went for something quicker, something I had done before, but bigger… <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So there are two outcomes from this afternoon: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

1 Finally making an 8cm wide version of my espresso cup (here: https:\/\/www.fluster.co.uk\/wordpress\/2024\/02\/adventures-in-slipcasting-part-3\/<\/a>, so that’s a good thing. 9 hours of printing, then plaster mould. Need to get slip mixing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
